Title: TC1000WAH WORKING AT HEIGHTS FALL PROTECTION (ONTARIO ONLY)

Description:

As of April 1, 2015, Ontario workers who are required to use fall protection equipment on 'Construction Projects', must complete an MOL (Ontario Ministry of Labor) approved Working at Heights (WAH) training program. If you don't have the training you may be subjected to a 'fine' or could be 'ineligible' to work on the jobsite in Ontario.

This comprehensive WAH program is an effective and interactive way to comply with Working at Heights training requirements for construction projects in Ontario. Our program delivers:

Part 1 Theoretical (3.5hrs):

Basic Theory online (E-Learning) using multiple delivery methods (audio, text, video, interactive, etc.) to improve learner engagement (3.5 hours done online at the learner's chosen pace).

Part 2 Classroom Training (4.5 hrs.):

Practical Training is delivered in the classroom to provide workers with the hands-on, practical experience for working safely at heights.

Prerequisites:

  • Part 1 (Theoretical online) must be completed by the trainee before attending Part 2 (Practical Training).
  • There is a course fee of $50.00 which must be paid before course enrollment.
  • You must apply online to be eligible for the course, names will not be accepted over the phone.

The course is currently only open to Local 740 Journeypersons SF/PF and Welders as these trades are currently the only required travel cards for our UA Sister Locals in Ontario.

Title: OSSA3000 OSSA ELEVATED WORK PLATFORM

Description: This OSSA Elevated Work Platform training course is for those who use elevated work platforms in the workplace and require OSSA certification. This training course will give you a working knowledge of the safe operation of elevated work platforms. Course topics also include: types of elevated work platforms (scissor lift and boom lift), legislation and regulations, inspection and maintenance, best safety practices, actual operation, and personal protect equipment. This course is a combination of classroom and practical instruction. You will be required to pass a written exam and demonstrate your ability to safely operate an elevated work platform. Note: STEAMFITTER/PIPEFITTER Red Seal is required for work in Alberta

Title: OSSA2000 OSSA CONFINED SPACE

Description: The OSSA Confined Space/Entry Monitor training course is for workers required to enter, or monitor the entry, into a confined space. Please be aware that this is not a confined space rescue training course. Upon completion of this course you will be able to identify types of confined spaces, have the ability to access potential hazards and act accordingly. Other course topics include: standards legislated by Alberta Occupational Health & Safety, OSSA Confined Space Regional Code of Practice, planning and permitting entries, emergency response, requirements of confined space entry, and role of confined space monitor. This course will be delivered in a classroom setting and include a written exam. Note: STEAMFITTER/PIPEFITTER Red Seal is required for work in Alberta

Title: OSSA1000 OSSA FALL PROTECTION

Description: This OSSA Fall Protection training course is for those who work at heights or other environments with potential fall risks. Upon completion of this course you will have a working knowledge on how to prevent falls in the work place by accessing potential fall hazards, assembling and operating a fall protection system. Other course topics include: rescue procedures, use of fall protection equipment (travel restraint and fall arrest systems), anchorage, inspection of equipment, and regulations that relate to fall protection. This course will combine a classroom presentation with hands-on instruction that includes working with fall protection equipment. There will be a written and practical exam. Please be aware that you’ll be required to physically perform a “Control Weight Transfer” in a full body harness to complete the course. Note: STEAMFITTER/PIPEFITTER Red Seal is required for work in Alberta

Title: AL1100TC IVES 1 DAY RE-CERTIFICATION

Description: This course is for participants that have completed Aerial Lift/Scissor Lift training here at the UA Training Centre within the last 3 years. Participants will be refreshed in all aspects of Aerial Lift/Scissor Lift operation and safe use. Participants will be refreshed by thorough (theoretical and hands on) training on safe mobile equipment operation.

Title: FP1200TC FALL PROTECTION RE-CERTIFICATION (1 DAY)

Description: This course is for participants that hold a current WHSCC 2 Day Fall Protection Certificate. Participants must complete the 1 Day Re-Certification prior to the expiry date of their current certificate. Once the 2 Day certificate is expired, participants will be required to complete the 2 Day course. This re-certification course will refresh participants in Fall Protection equipment and Fall Protection principles by in-class and hands-on training.

Title: ST1000TC CSTS/CSTS 09 UPGRADE

Description: This program is an online interactive video training system. Individuals are trained in the basics of construction safety. This performance-based program requires 100% mastery of the 15 lessons which are on a self paced completion. Individuals can complete this training on a flexible schedule.

Description: This course is based on the worker's right to know about hazardous materials which they may contact in the workplace. The roles and responsibilities of suppliers, employers and workers which deal with hazardous materials on the jobsite.

Description: This course will enable the student to safely and confidently understand and evaluate the hazards and procedures associated with confined spaces. Students will learn the duties and responsibilities of all members of the confined space team and the safe use of confined space equipment.

Description: Students are trained in the safe use of fall protection equipment. Fall protection equipment includes such items as harnesses, lanyards, lifelines and anchorage points. Students have 1 day of theory and 1 day of practical in which they will learn the importance of Fall Protection Training and recognize the hazards and safety applications of fall protection.
